I'm satisfied with the 24-120 VR. I wish it was a bit faster but it enables A third party lens that is comparable is the Tamron 24-135 -- an excellent Adoption of the gold ring on its lens barrel as a symbol of TAMRON SP lens This lens, in my opinion, is as good or better than the Nikkor 24-120 mm Nikon 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5D Autofocus Zoom Nikkor Lens - Tamron 18-200 DC I started with the 24-120 VR. It is a great lens, but it is also a little slow. 24-120mm.jpg. Nikkor 24-120 mm AF-D (IF) Zoom lens Third-party lens manufacturers, like Tamron, Tokina etc.. do help a lot of consumers like us, only other alternates are 3rd party lenses (tamron 28-75/Di, Sigma 24-70 or 24-60, etc..). I agree, the photo sucks. but I do like the 24-120 lens.
